We are a group of people drawn together for worship and service by a common faith in Jesus Christ. We are a free fellowship, in that only those who choose to do so worship here. Yet it is more than a voluntary association such as a lodge or fraternity. Becoming a Christian is to become a member of Christ’s body, the Church, and obligates us to be in active fellowship with those of like, precious faith. This congregation, then, is not the product of our decision, but is God’s creation. We are a free, independent, self-governing congregation under Christ alone as Head. We are free to study, teach, and work as our conscience, directed by the Bible, leads us. As such, we have no need for denomination affiliation, though we recognize a unique spiritual bond to other congregations of the Church of Christ.
We wear no name but that of Christian, though we do not claim to have attained to everything this name represents. We confess our shortcomings but believe we are called together in one fellowship with Christ and one another to supply our need. We recognize our weaknesses but rely upon His strength to overcome them. Therefore, acknowledging the proneness of our humanity to err, we give ourselves completely to the will to our divine Head who redeems us, chastens us, and uses us to promote His kingdom upon the earth by serving others and proclaiming the Good News of His Kingdom.
We carry on our work and worship in an orderly but meaningful manner as we understand the Scriptures to teach. According to Apostolic precedent, we celebrate the Lord ’s Supper each Lord’s day. Our music is the praise of our lips and hearts without mechanical accompaniment. Our heartfelt prayers are intended for power, and not just as part of a program. The inerrant and inspired Word of God is given a prominence in our teaching and preaching, for we believe that in Christian worship God always speaks and that we must be attuned to hear and ready to obey. Our giving of time and money is generous and sacrificial, symbolic of our dedication of all that we have and are.
Our marching orders are the Lord’s world-wide commission. Our hope is His everlasting Kingdom and the resurrection of the dead. Our message is “Jesus Christ and Him crucified”. (1 Corinthians 2:2) “Christ is our Creed, the Bible our Rule of Faith.”
